Family Stability & Housing Initiative

Mission Status: Funding Active

Category: Personal Family Support

Funds Required: 250.000 €

Mission Description

A sustainable intergenerational home in Verona. I am a grandmother who has worked all her life. I raised my daughter alone, without a marriage and without owning a home. For many years, we lived in rented accommodations, in small apartments, adapting and being patient. Today, four of us live in Verona: my daughter, my two granddaughters, and me. The home we live in is too small for our needs, and rent significantly impacts my daughter's income. The biggest challenge is the lack of space: space for studying, for privacy, and for a peaceful daily life. My 16-year-old granddaughter, in particular, doesn't have a living room or a common area where she can invite friends and enjoy normal social life. This project was born from the desire to create a stable home suited to the needs of three generations of the same family, maintaining the values of responsibility, dignity, and commitment that have always guided our lives. The project involves the purchase and renovation of a house near Verona, surrounded by greenery. The home will be selected from among properties requiring renovation, with the goal of enhancing existing structures and reducing environmental impact. The renovation will be carried out according to green building principles, favoring natural materials and sustainable solutions. The house will be designed to be as energy self-sufficient as possible, through efficiency systems and renewable energy production. The interior spaces will be organized to ensure: adequate bedrooms for each family member, while respecting privacy; common areas, particularly a living room, for family life and socializing; suitable environments for the children's study and daily life. Outside, a vegetable garden and a garden will be planned, designed as places of care, education, and contact with nature. The construction of the house will allow the family to overcome the burden of expensive rent and establish long-term residential stability.
